SUSTAINABLE FASHION

THE SUSTAINABLE FASHION:- WHAT? WHEN? WHERE?

Sustainable Fashion is a process that deals with fostering change to fashion products and system towards greater ecological integrity and social justice. It refers to the garments and accessories that have been made in a mindful way and this sustainable fashion industry concerns more than just it comprises addressing the whole system of fashion.

The origins of the sustainable fashion movement are interwind with those of the modern environment movement, and specifically the publication in 1962 of the book Silent Spring by American biologist Rachel Carson. In this book she exposed how the fashion industry is harming the environment on greater level. This book came in like a wave and the impact was seen in the following decades. Sustainability does not always mean to make a drastic change in living or minimalism or slow fashion, there are just the few terms attached to it. What it actually means is what you yourself are willing to do to save the environment and carry forward an ethical social structure. It is all about you, if each person gets up and think about working towards cleaning this system even by just saving a bucket of water, it will make a difference, it will cause a change, it is sustainability, not a drastic but sustainability.

SUSTAINABLE BRANDS:-

Sustainability is not just a destination it is a journey. It is a process which could never end at some point of time. The whole idea revolves around what little steps are we taking towards it. So what makes a brand sustainable? Growing plants, saving water, using natural fibres, labor protection, less chemicals usage? According to me you don't have to follow each and every aspect or sustainability, I call it a successful sustainable brand. Now let's look at how the Indian brand - B Label is following the path of sustainability:-

B LABEL

A clothing line which considers a green route, where science meets fashion and style meets sustainability. It is a brand by BOHECO. The clean, minimalist, and everyday wear garments are for hemp natural fibres that repel UV rays, resist mold and mildew, and is carbon negative.

Revolutionary!

About BOHECO

Bombay Hemp Company, was incorporated in 2013, is an Agro-based enterprise re-imagining the future of Indian agriculture and sustainable living with hemp as our lens. Hemp's uses are kaleidoscopic.

MATERIAL USED:-

They make garments with one of the strongest natural fibres on the planet. Hemp repels UV rays, resists mold and mildew, and is carbon - negative, and it lasts for years.

PRODUCTION:-

At B Label, we have strong environmental values that apply throughout everything we do as a company. The first step is to look at what we do as a business. For example to recycle everything including the boxes that we use to send customers parcels for their online orders, our daily office papers waste, and we only print on recycled paper.
The next step in being eco-friendly in everything we do is to make sure we work with suppliers and partners who share the same mindset. We think this a really important step which we can take in our own personal lives as well as our professional ones.

OBJECTIVE:-

Choosing to consume from ethical, sustainable and eco-friendly companies and brands is something we can all do to make a difference.

REVIEW:-

In my opinion I feel that what B Label is doing for a sustainable fashion is absolutely a great initiative by choosing the green route and making the garments with hemp. Hemp helps save water, it is organically cultivated and it needs no pesticides or fungicides like most crops. But what we know is that these brands are actually is happening, are they actually paying their labor properly. It is a still point of concern.
